ALA Hosting Holiday Light Contest For The Acreage Community

Bob Morgan with last year’s contest winners Pamela and Wayne Hammerle.

The Acreage Landowners’ Association is hosting its second annual Holiday Light Contest, with entries to be submitted by Sunday, Dec. 20.

“We still haven’t determined what the prize is going to be,” ALA Board Member Bob Morgan said.

He explained that ALA board members will be the judges, and Indian Trail Improvement District officials may be invited to judge as well.

Judging will take place during the week of Dec. 20, and the winner will be chosen on Dec. 26.

Morgan encouraged anyone with holiday lights to enter their names, whether they want to be in the contest or not, so they can be included on a map.

“It’s only for residents of the Indian Trail Improvement District, but others can post their addresses there. However, if they’re not in the ITID area, they won’t be considered for the contest.”

Residents who want to enter can go to the ALA’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/acreagelandowners to find the registration form.

“There’s also a link to last year’s winner as well,” Morgan said. “We’re also looking for commercial sponsors. Anyone who wants to donate to the prize winnings, we’re looking for that also. If they want to send us a business card, we’d be glad to advertise it on the ALA page. There’s a link for donations on the same page.”

Registrations must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 20.

Entries will be judged on storyline or theme; visual appeal such as light, design and creative use of lights and/or decorations; music, especially if it is coordinated with light movement; originality; and impact.

In addition to a prize, the winner will receive the ALA Annual Traveling Trophy to be added to the resident’s display next year.
