The Loxahatchee Groves Landowners’ Association will host a candidate forum on Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Palms West Presbyterian Church from 7 to 9 p.m., although some of the candidates have indicated they do not plan to attend.
In the March 9 election, Seat 1 incumbent Councilwoman Phillis Maniglia is being challenged by former Councilman Dave DeMarois, while Seat 3 incumbent Mayor Lisa El-Ramey will face community activist Marianne Miles, but the challengers have turned down the LGLA’s invitations, according to forum coordinator Virginia Standish.
“The Loxahatchee Groves Landowners’ Association will be collecting questions from the public,” Standish said. “We’ll record it, and whoever shows up, we will distribute the recording and make it available.”
Questions for candidates can be e-mailed to marge@herzog.ms.
Palms West Presbyterian Church is located at 13689 Okeechobee Blvd. in Loxahatchee Groves. Seating is limited to 50 people in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
