On Friday, Sept. 10, Wellington Elementary School staff members showed their support for World Suicide Prevention Day by wearing purple or teal. World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year. Every 40 seconds, someone takes their own life, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Suicide is the leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 29. WES officials hope to bring awareness to this tragic statistic and work together and reduce those numbers.
