Wellington-based Phelps Media Group (PMG), the leading marketing and public relations agency in the competitive equestrian industry, recently announced Jennifer Burger as its new chief executive officer. Following an exceptional year of development in 2021, PMG looks forward to its continued growth with Burger at the helm, carrying on the late Mason Phelps Jr.’s legacy as the firm’s founder.
“Myself, and the Phelps Media Group team, are very excited to have Jennifer join us,” said Julie Tannehill, chief operating officer and owner of Phelps Media Group. “With her experience and knowledge of the equestrian world, I have no doubt that she will help take PMG to new heights. I look forward to continuing our success in 2022 with our amazing clients and staff members.”
Burger, who grew up in Buffalo, New York, is a lifelong equestrian. After attending Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, she went on to work on her master’s degree at the University of Berkeley and the California College of Arts. Burger then started her own advertising agency, where she worked to gain vast experience in marketing, advertising and public relations. She has also held various positions with nonprofit organizations, such as therapeutic riding centers, schools, the Buffalo Equestrian Center, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Foundation and US Equestrian.
Today, Burger is president of the National Horse Show, a position that was passed down by Phelps himself to Burger, and co-founder of the Brandywine Horse Show series with Louise Serio. She also serves on boards for the Devon Horse Show, the USET Foundation Advisory Committee and Unity of the Palm Beaches, strengthening her ties to the equestrian community and making her a valuable resource.
Burger will now be responsible for the high-level operations of Phelps Media Group in her role as chief executive officer. As an ally of Phelps Media Group for years, Burger was a dear friend of Phelps, and worked closely with him in a variety of organizations prior to her involvement with PMG.
Burger’s immediate goals are centered around leading the team at Phelps Media Group with fresh thought and imagery. “I am honored to be joining Phelps Media Group,” Burger said. “As the industry’s leader in equestrian marketing efforts, I am looking forward to strategizing with innovative thought, design and learning tools alongside the passionate team at Phelps Media Group.”
