The Wellington Art Society’s next monthly meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 in the Grand Cypress room at the Wellington Community Center (12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd.).
Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m., and there will a raffle open to all attendees. The general meeting begins at 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a special artist demonstration by Anthony Burks, a native Floridian who is a unique and prolific local artist. He works in numerous media forms including pen and ink, pastels, watercolor and color pencil. Much of Burks’ work portrays native wildlife in a captivating and intriguing style.
“Change is a challenge for many artists,” Burks said. “However, I have learned to embrace it. Incorporating bright colors into my images has always been an objective; but I have learned to also integrate abstract images into my concepts. This has allowed me to be more diverse and creative with my work. I want my audience to be as free in viewing my work as I am in creating it. I am willing to tackle the next stage of my artistic journey.”
Founded in 1981, the Wellington Art Society is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, providing both local and regional artists the platform to share their work, learn more about their craft and serve the community through their art. The Wellington Art Society is open to any resident in Palm Beach County. Membership forms will be available at the open house if you would like to become a member.
