Royal Palm Jaycees Gather For Reunion

Former members of the Royal Palm Beach Jaycees held their “First Reunion Get-Together” on Feb. 20 at Francesca’s Pizza & Wine Bar on Okeechobee Blvd.

Emphasizing the fact that it has been at least 15 years since many of these members have gotten together, former Jaycees President Scott Snyder said that he felt the timing was right for the reunion.

The Jaycees were known for their community service projects. During the group’s “golden years” between 1980 and 1995, the organization was known for its Halloween haunted house, operation of teen dances, golf tournaments and Christmas tree sales, among other projects. Unfortunately, as members “aged out,” the organization began to dwindle.

Several members went on to join the fledgling Royal Palm Beach Rotary Club, continuing the spirit of “community service being the best work of life” — the last line of the Jaycee Creed. Members are planning on having another reunion later this year, in time to reflect on the Halloween Haunted House projects.
