Wellington Regional Medical Center helped make the holidays a little brighter for Palm Beach County families in need this holiday season.
WRMC’s employees and medical staff have donated more than $11,000 toward its Adopt-a-Family Program. The dollars were able to provide food, clothing and necessities for 23 families in serious need this holiday season.
“Wellington Regional identified a need within our very own community of children and families,” WMRC Chief Financial Officer Joseph Paul said. “It is our continuous goal to give back to the community, and this is a great opportunity to reach out to those in need.”
The majority of the families were identified through a partnership with six Palm Beach County schools within the hospital’s immediate service area in the western communities.
Paul noted that the hospital communicated with school administration and guidance counselors to identify students and families dealing with difficult situations at home.
“There are families in need right here in our community,” Paul said. “As a leader in the community, giving back is a priority. We are blessed beyond words with the outpouring of response and generosity.”
Donations came from employees, medical staff and their families, and gifts were distributed to the needy families in the first two weeks of December.
Paul said he would like to see the program continue in the future. “If there is a need within our community, we will plan to continue this program,” he said.
