Wellington Regional Medical Center will host its second annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program on Monday, Jan. 20 at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to join the hospital and its employees for a celebration of the life, legacy and teachings of the late Dr. King.
The ceremony will include opening remarks by CEO Robbin Lee, an invocation by Ervin Owens of Christ Fellowship Church, a video on the Life of Dr. King, a choir featuring WRMC employees, a recital of the “I Have a Dream” speech by children from the community, a keynote address by CFO Joseph Paul and a dove and balloon release symbolizing the freedom for which Dr. King stood. After the ceremony there will be a reception with refreshments.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of a great American hero and to honor the sacrifices of men and women from generations before us who stood for inclusion and equality,” Paul said. “Wellington Regional Medical Center has long recognized the need to uphold and support the diversity of our workforce, as we are reflective of the diversity of our patients and the surrounding communities we serve. It is our firm belief that our diverse campus enriches us all. The observance of Martin Luther King Day provides us with the opportunity to recognize and to celebrate that fact.”
