As longtime residents of Palm Beach County, we have been prepared for hurricanes since 1973. We stock up on supplies early, have our shutters, generator, fans, battery backups, TV, radio, gas, water, food and even a portable AC unit for the bedroom. Yes, we were prepared.
However, after going through Hurricane Irma and losing power for four days, we searched for a place to stay that had power. Our first choice was the Royal Inn on Southern Blvd. in Royal Palm Beach. We were in luck and were able to rent a suite. We were so relieved to be able to live in air-conditioned comfort in a home away from home setting for three days until our power returned.
Hats-off to the Santamaria family and the entire staff. They were all so friendly and extremely welcoming. Everyone from check-in to housekeeping had a hello and a big smile for us, even though we’re sure they all went through their own personal hurricane problems. Thank you, Royal Inn.
